RE: Ok to run shore power without battery?

His 12.9v reading from the converter (with no battery) is 14.32v RMS. how do you know that? If the converter is putting out 12.9V DC with little or no ripple the RMS voltage is 12.9V Unless you LOOK at the output waveform and KNOW what kind of meter is used you don't know what the RMS value is. Epistemology :B

RE: Help! Am i making the right decision

****, i posted the wrong url for the Bauer. I was typing this up while on a call. Here's the real link: https://heartlandrvs.com/rv-model/cwes-34bhs/ They both have very similar setup. 1 1/2 bath, layout. big difference is the furniture and bauer has washer/dryer prep and poor outdoor kitchen setup. Not concerned with washer/dryer prep as our campground has this if we need it. I forgot to mention, they accepted my offer without hesitation and now I'm thinking I should have offered a lower price. With the RV show coming up in a couple of months, is it worth my time to wait till then to get a better deal? I don't need this RV until April. Go back and tell them you changed your mind on the offer and see what they will come up with.

RE: Moth Balls Melt Solo Cup

Styrofoam or plastic cups? Solo cups are made of polystyrene, kind of like plastic.

RE: 12 volt fridges

Wow, this thread sure went off the rail quickly. :S To the OP. The charge controller should indicate the charge going to the battery.

RE: Solar panel and battery noise

Always thought that 13.6v was the typical charging voltage for LA batteries

RE: Solar panel and battery noise

I went and found the manual for the power converter/charger. It is an Elixir ELX-45. In the specifications section it says DC output is 13.5Volts 45Amps. It also says "...designed to output a constant voltage of 13.5-13.6 volts at no load and 13.1 volts at full load to ensure trouble free service of all 12volt DC appliances." Does this mean when plugged into shore with everything turned off the batteries would only be receiving 13.5-13.6VDC max? Kinda sounds that way to me. yup, and your batteries will NEVER become fully charged and likely never get to the point where you see any bubbling. That also means since they never get fully charged, battery life will suffer. Therefore it is likely that the solar controller is trying to get the batteries fully charged. hence the bubbling and noise. Assuming they are connected correctly to the solar controller. Where did you get that information from?

RE: New battery time

No need for deep cycle batteries if the trailer is always on shore power.

RE: Warm fridge / cold freezer (Norcold)

If it is an absorption fridge (propane) and not in a slide there should be no obstruction in the vent way.

RE: Strong urine smell in bathroom

"It was a hot three days with much peeing and very little flushing." That could be the problem.Indeed. Much less water conservation next time and we'll see. Have the male folk pee out behind the trailer. :B

RE: Champion 2500-Watt Dual Fuel Inverter Generator

We were boondocking recently next to a guy who had a Champion generator. Couldn't hear myself think when he had it running. Was this an open frame generator or an inverter. I have two 2000 watt inverter units and they are both very quiet. I combine them when I need to run high power stuff but most of the time we run one of them in eco mode. That is enough to charge my TT batteries after running the furnace all night. To tell you the truth, I didn't notice. All that I noticed was that they were Champion. Had to have been an open frame, Champion inverter genny's are not loud.

RE: Champion 2500-Watt Dual Fuel Inverter Generator

I bought a Champion generator from Costco and it leaked fuel all over the floor. I could not stop it from leaking, so I returned it and bought a used Honda 2000i for less than the cost of this one. You buy cheap you get cheap. "You buy cheap you get cheap." :B
